I’ve never been one to follow sports except maybe during an Olympic year where everyone and their mothers can talk. I’m not a girl in the sports biopic or sports drama genre, either. But there is one type of sport that I have seen, as a young millennial who loves’ 90s romantic comedies, in some of my favorite shows and movies: cheerleading.

Of course, the idea of the hot, blonde, energetic and popular cheerleader is outdated at this point. But while that archetype still exists, there are a bunch of movies and TV shows that show that this isn’t all the kind of cheerleader-centric entertainment. And we’ve rounded up some of the best on this list.
