the old Supernatural star has joined the Amazon Prime Video series as Soldier Boy, one of the main antagonists of the new season.
Talk to Weekly entertainment, Ackles recalled a conversation with showrunner Erik Kripke: “‘As a father of three, son and husband and self-respecting human being, I can’t do that. I didn’t know where my line was, but you found it.
Kripke went on to reveal, “We found a compromise where I got what I needed without him destroying his soul.” None of them revealed the details of the scene in question.
Ackles’ character was revealed in the series’ first full trailer coming earlier this month.
The clip precedes the season premiere on June 3, with the first three episodes then dropping before the launch of the other five each Friday after the premiere.
Alongside Ackles, the new season also brought in Laurie Holden as the Crimson Countess, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flanery as Gunpowder, and Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk.
Along with the main show, The boys is preparing two spin-offs – namely one focused on a superhero college (dubbed “part college show, part hunger games”), and an animated show titled Diabolical.
The latter is slated for release in 2022 and will feature the voice talents of Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer, Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg, Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland, Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg and Aisha Tyler.
