Bridgerton star Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma in the popular period drama, opened up about her “invigorating sex scene” during a personal chat with Alison Hammond.

While fans are hoping to see more romantic moments between Kate and her new husband Anthony when the series continues, the 27-year-old has revealed she also wants to see some steamier scenes in season three.

“I think there’s a lot to explore with Kate and Anthony,” she enthused while chatting with Alison on This Morning.

“And I think that’s something I’d like to see even more of in season three.”

Despite the show’s infamous sex scene, the second season significantly toned down the steamy scenes in favor of a few milder romantic encounters.

Disappointed fans have urged show bosses to bring back the steamy scenes as viewers remain hooked on their heated romance on Netflix’s hit show.

Some of Bridgerton’s sex scenes were deemed rather outrageous compared to other period dramas, but Simone admits she found them among Kate’s most empowering moments.

She recalled an example: “We have a moment in episode seven where Kate is the one giving consent and she says, ‘don’t stop, don’t stop’, translating to ‘I want this, I want this’, which is so powerful in itself.

“That scene in episode seven was incredibly empowering because Kate really takes the reins in that sense and she knows what she wants, and it was amazing to represent that for women and tell that narrative.”

Fans feared the Sharma sister would stay on the show as a regular after Simon Basset star Regé-Jean Page dropped out of the show after just one season.

The cast have since confirmed that they are more than willing to return as part of the regular cast for season three and beyond.

Simone spoke more about filming with Jonathan during her recent appearance on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast.

Simone explained: “It’s incredibly empowering because you feel so safe and when you feel safe and comfortable it breeds confidence and you feel so confident in your body and in your mind and that that you want to share.

“It’s a very vulnerable moment and Johnny and I would be like, ‘you know, it’s deeply vulnerable and we’re so grateful to be able to share it with each other and create this together in such a safe space. ‘ was incredibly empowering.
